Best site induction apps UK (2026): nine compared
Nine UK site induction tools compared: how people are inducted, whether the gate blocks or flags, cards, languages and real prices.
- The tools fall into three kinds: safety-document writers that add sign-off (The Site Book, RAMS AI), induction platforms built for large multi-site programmes (One.site, Intasite, Altora, Keyzo), and door sign-in systems where the induction is part of signing in (JobGate, Insite, Collabor8Online, CAM PRO, AttendIQ).
- The big split is whether the system blocks a person at the gate until the induction is done, or lets them in and flags the office. Decide which you want before you look at features.
- Check that the record is per person, per site and dated, that a new revision asks everyone again, and that you can hand the record over in an HSE visit without a login.
- Prices run from £5 per worker a month to £99 per site a month to quote-only, with set-up fees and 12-month contracts on some.
A site induction on a phone is a dated record that each person read the site rules, the risks and the emergency arrangements for that site before they started, and signed to say so. This guide compares nine UK options, from document writers that add a signature to door sign-in systems where the induction happens at the gate.
We make JobGate, so we are not neutral. Everything here about other products comes from their own websites on 3 November 2026 and may have changed since. “Not mentioned” means we could not find it on the supplier’s site, not that it does not exist. If you spot a mistake, email hello@jobgate.uk and we will correct it.
What a site induction has to cover
CDM 2015 regulation 13(4) says the principal contractor must ensure every worker gets a suitable site induction, and regulation 15 says contractors must not employ anyone on site who has not had one. The HSE expects it to cover the site rules, the significant risks and the control measures for them, the emergency arrangements, welfare, and who is in charge. There is no rule that it has to be on paper, and no rule that it has to be a quiz. What matters is that each person was told, understood, and that you can show when. Our guide to site inductions under CDM 2015 quotes the regulations in full.
On a phone that means two things: the content for that site (rules, risks, emergency plan, access and welfare) and a signature from each person against it, with the date and the version. Anything else, such as a video or a multiple-choice check, is a choice, not a requirement.

Which suits which firm
- A housebuilder or main contractor with a gate hut and hundreds of people through it: One.site, or an induction platform like Intasite or Keyzo, with a kiosk at the gate.
- You want the induction written for you from the RAMS and the construction phase plan: The Site Book or RAMS AI.
- You want the gate to refuse anyone who has not finished: Insite, Collabor8Online, CAM PRO, AttendIQ, or The Site Book’s Site Control. Be clear about what that means on a wet Monday when the signal drops.
- A small or medium contractor who wants every person inducted and signed at the door, nobody stuck at the gate, and the same scan building the timesheet: JobGate.
What JobGate does not do: there is no multiple-choice quiz, no video induction and no health declaration yet. The induction is the site information, the site rules and the safety paperwork for that job, read and signed by each person before they are cleared. If you need a quiz with a pass mark, look at the induction platforms.
Questions to ask any supplier
- Is the record per person, per site, with the date and the version they signed?
- When the content changes, does everyone get asked again, and can you see who has and has not?
- Does it need an app on the worker’s phone, and what happens if they will not install one?
- Can a visitor or a delivery driver be inducted the same way, without an account?
- What does the worker see if they have not finished: are they stopped, or told and let through?
- Can the office export the induction record for an HSE inspector or a main contractor without giving them a login?
- Can the record be edited or deleted afterwards? It should not be.
Questions
Is a digital site induction accepted by the HSE?
Yes. CDM 2015 does not say how the induction must be recorded. A dated record of what each person was told and their signature against it is what an inspector asks for, and a PDF with those things in it is accepted. Keep it where you can produce it without hunting.
Does every worker need a new induction on every site?
Yes, because the induction is site-specific: the rules, risks, welfare and emergency arrangements differ. Company-level training such as CSCS or a toolbox talk is separate. A good system makes the site induction quick because the person’s details and cards are already known.
Can subcontractors’ operatives be inducted on the same system?
On most of these, yes, either through a QR code at the gate or a link sent before they arrive. Check whether they need their own account, and whether the subcontractor firm’s own safety paperwork for their part of the job is signed as well as your general site rules.
