Construction site sign-in apps in the UK: how they compare (2026)
What to look for in a site sign-in app, and how six UK options compare on the things that matter.
In 30 seconds
- Check how people sign in: QR on the door, GPS geofence, kiosk or an app.
- Decide whether you want the gate to block people or flag problems to the office.
- Look for RAMS signed by revision, timesheets that export to your payroll, and visitors on the same register.
- Compare the real cost for your crew size, including contracts and set-up fees.
We make JobGate, so we are not neutral. Everything below about other products comes from their own websites, checked on 2 November 2026. Prices and features change, so check with each supplier before you decide. If anything here is wrong, email hello@jobgate.uk and we will correct it.
What to look for
- How people sign in. A QR code on the site door, a GPS geofence, a kiosk or tablet at the gate, or an app to install. Each one suits a different kind of site.
- Whether it blocks or flags. Some systems stop people signing in until every step is done or until they are inside the geofence. Others let them in and flag the problem for the office. Think about what happens on your site at 07:30 when the signal is poor.
- RAMS and induction sign-off. Is each person's signature tied to a specific revision, and are they asked to sign again when it changes?
- Timesheets and payroll. Are the sign-ins turned into timesheets you can approve and export to your payroll software, with CIS for subcontractors?
- Visitors and the roll call. Do visitors sign in the same way, and is everyone on one list for the fire roll call?
- Records. Can records be edited afterwards? Can you get them out as a PDF or spreadsheet?
- Price model. Per worker, per site, per office user or per project. The cheapest option depends on how many people you have and how many sites they are spread across.
- Contracts and set-up fees. Some suppliers need a 12-month contract or charge a set-up fee; others are monthly.

Which suits which firm
- You only need hours, with lots of people on a few sites: a per-site timesheet tool such as SiteSign will usually cost less.
- You want GPS geofencing and face matching, and you have 25 or more workers: AttendIQ is built around that, on an annual contract with a set-up fee.
- Your main need is writing RAMS and CDM documents: The Site Book is built around AI document writing.
- You want the gate to refuse anyone who has not signed: CAM PRO and Insite both block access until the paperwork is done.
- You want snagging, drawings and progress in the same system: Insite is an all-in-one site management package.
- You want sign-in, safety paperwork and payroll timesheets together, paid per worker with no contract, and you would rather problems are flagged to the office than people stopped at the gate: that is what JobGate is built for.
Questions to ask any supplier
- Do my operatives need to install an app, or create a password?
- What happens when there is no signal at the gate?
- Is location tracked all day, or only when they sign in?
- Can a record be edited or deleted after it is made? Who can see the change?
- Do subcontractors' operatives and visitors use the same sign-in?
- Which payroll software does the timesheet export work with? Is CIS included?
- Is there a contract, a set-up fee or a minimum number of workers?
- If we leave, can we take every record with us?
