JobGate vs Insite: site sign-in, safety paperwork and timesheets compared (2026)
Site sign-in, safety paperwork and timesheets: how JobGate and Insite differ, and which suits which firm.
- Insite is a full site-management system (snagging, diaries, drawings, RFIs) with a Workforce module for sign-in, inductions, RAMS and timesheets. JobGate does the sign-in, paperwork and timesheets and deliberately nothing else.
- Insite gates the door: no induction, no sign-in. JobGate lets people in, tells them they are not cleared, and flags the office.
- Insite needs its app. JobGate is a web page opened by scanning the sign; nothing to install.
- Insite Starter is £120 a month without sign-in; Workforce is quoted on Premium with a 12-month minimum and £500 to £1,000 onboarding. JobGate is £5 per worker a month, £30 minimum, no contract, no set-up fee.
Insite is the established UK site-management platform; JobGate is a sign-in and safety-paperwork tool for small and medium contractors. They overlap on one thing, getting people signed in and signed up to the paperwork, and differ on almost everything around it. This page sets the two out honestly so you can pick.
We make JobGate, so we are not neutral. Everything here about other products comes from their own websites on 3 November 2026 and may have changed since. “Not mentioned” means we could not find it on the supplier’s site, not that it does not exist. If you spot a mistake, email hello@jobgate.uk and we will correct it.
Who each one is for
Insite (Insite Group Ltd, Dunstable, since 2018) sells to main contractors and larger subcontractors who want one system for the whole site: programme, snagging, site diary, drawings, RFIs, and the people side. It exhibits at London Build and has case studies and logos on its site. If you are replacing three systems with one, it is the one to look at.
JobGate is for firms of roughly five to a hundred people with several jobs on the go who do not want site management at all. One web page per job, one QR sign on the door. The scan signs people in, opens the safety paperwork for that job to read and sign, and builds the timesheet and the sealed record. Made by someone who spent years on fit-out sites chasing signatures.

Choose Insite if
- You want site management (programme, snagging, diary, drawings) and sign-in in one system.
- You want the gate to refuse anyone who has not been inducted.
- You want a supplier with seven years, case studies and a stand at trade shows behind it.
- Your firm is big enough that a quoted price and an onboarding fee are not a concern.
Choose JobGate if
- You want sign-in, signed safety paperwork and timesheets, and nothing you did not ask for.
- You do not want operatives installing an app, or being tracked.
- You would rather flag a problem to the office than hold people at the gate.
- You want the price on the website, no contract and no set-up fee, and to be running on your next job in five minutes.
What Insite has that JobGate does not: site management, a native app, geofencing, years of customers. What JobGate has that Insite does not, as far as its site shows: no-app sign-in for everyone including visitors, 23 languages, a sealed public-verifiable record, payroll files named for UK packages, and a published per-worker price with no contract.
Questions
Is JobGate a replacement for Insite?
Only for the Workforce part: sign-in, inductions and paperwork, timesheets. If you use Insite for snagging, diaries and drawings, JobGate does not do those and will not.
Which is cheaper?
For a firm of 15 operatives on three sites, JobGate is £75 a month with no other fees. Insite’s Workforce module is quoted on Premium with a 12-month minimum and a £500 to £1,000 onboarding fee; Starter at £120 a month does not include it. For a large main contractor the comparison may run the other way; ask Insite for the quote.
Does either need an app?
Insite runs in its app. JobGate is a web page: operatives scan the sign with the phone camera and it opens. There is nothing to install and nothing to update.
What about blocking people who have not signed?
Insite gates sign-in until the induction is done. JobGate does not block anyone at the gate: it tells the person they are not cleared, tells the office, and lets a site manager send reminders to everyone who has not signed. Both approaches are defensible; pick the one that matches how your sites run.
